I try to engage in a respectful manner with the advocates of transitioning. Sadly, with the medical community, the academic community, and the political community on board it's like fighting a tidal wave of PC. I often use the example of "lobotomies" , once accepted as remedy for behavioral / psyche issues, endorsed by the medical society for 20 years, and the neurosurgeon who developed the "remedy" was awarded the Nobel Peace prize. Then, it was rejected as an abuse and dangerous technique. The APA votes in, by a show of hands, "illness" based on self reports. It's not a concrete science, but a subjective one.
